Visit to Eastbourne by Lavendon Old Folks
On the way back home, we stopped at Windsor and then at Runnymeade for a walkabout by the river.
A carvery meal had been booked for us all and that was another satisfying success. Congratulations to the LOPW Committee for their hard work in arranging this enjoyable and pleasurable week-end.  N.J.
Be advised

I recently had an examination and a clean at the Olney Dental Surgery on the square in Olney. The procedures took all of fifteen minutes in total and for that I was charged what I consider the outrageous some of £80.00.

I have advised them that they have priced themselves out of my league and I suspect that I am not the first to do so.

New Speed Warning Sign

Dear Ed,
The new speed warning sign on the Northampton Road approach to the village seems to be doing the job in the majority of cases. But of course you will always get the complete idiots both young and not so young who think the signs do not apply to them.

Lavendon Old Peoples Welfare Club
visit to Eastbourne

On the 3rd of October the LOPWC arranged a trip to the sea side. We left Lavendon on Friday at 8-00am and arrived at Leeds Castle, on our way to Eastbourne, at approximately 10-30. The weather was amazing. It was warm and sunny the whole week-end but we couldn’t have had a better day to visit this wonderful moated castle. From the car park it was a pleasant stroll passing informative plaques and brass rubbing sites to our first sight of the castle.
It was a great lunch stop and we had time to tour the Tudor interior and to walk around the gardens.

Eastbourne has a beautiful pier and although the beach is pebbly the gardens were pretty. These are views of the hotel and from the hotel.

We enjoyed a trip to the old town of Rye with its historic sites, its antique shops and cafes and a trip to a vineyard was an option. We could also use our bus passes to go to Beachy Head or, if we wanted to, Brighton.

On the last evening there was a concert in the bandstand which finished our stay in Eastbourne on a high note.

We are eager to publish more on the History of Lavendon and other loacal areas.
