The visit to Derbyshire by the Lavendon Old
Folks continued on from Youlgrave (looking
at the Well Dressing) to Bakewell where there
was time for a look around followed by an
opportunity to bake our own Bakewell Pudding. Certain Lavendon Folk - oh look, there's Joan and Dilys again - took the opportunity for a welcome break beside the River Wye at Bakewell and its attractive five-arched Grade 1 Listed bridge. It wasn't long before they and others were queueing outside of 'The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop' for yet more to eat! Are they always hungry? Visit by Lavendon Old Folks to Youlgrave
and Bakewell in Derbyshire - 21 June 2010 Part 1 - Youlgrave Well Dressing - Click Here Part 2 - Bakewell Pudding Making - See Below Right: Some solemn faces here as the Old Folks
received a detailed briefing about the extraordinary
task ahead - to prepare and bake our own
Bakewell Puddings. Below: No worries here though - the Folks knuckle down to their allotted tasks and resisted having a food fight with the special ingredients (complete with secret additions to the recipe). Everyone had the opportunity to make and bake their own, and take back something to munch on the way home: is that where Joan and Dilys come into the story again? |
